I grew up speaking English in Australia, but I learned German and Dutch as an adult. So I actually know how it feels when the grammar won't stick or your mind goes blank halfway through a sentence. That's why my lessons stay patient and low-pressure, and why we spend most of the time talking instead of filling in worksheets.
I studied Psychology at the University of Western Australia, so I pay attention to how you learn rather than running everyone through the same routine. My real strength is working out what's holding your English back and the fastest way past it. And after five years in consulting, I'm right at home with the English you need for meetings, emails, and the presentation you'd rather not freeze in.

Common questions
Is a native speaker worth paying a bit more for?
A 60-minute lesson is €35, or €32 in a 10-lesson package, with a €20 trial to start. That's above the Graz average, and it's on purpose: you're learning real, natural English from a native speaker, not textbook English at second hand. Most people find one focused hour with the right person beats several cheap lessons that go nowhere. Do the €20 trial first and judge for yourself.
Can we switch to German if I get stuck?
Yes. I speak German, so if you freeze or need a word explained, we sort it out in German and get back to English. You won't be thrown in at the deep end, plenty of speaking practice, just without the panic.
Do you prepare students for the Matura, Cambridge, IELTS or TOEFL?
Yes. Tell me which exam and your date, and we'll work on the exact skills and format it tests, including the speaking parts most people dread.
I'm a nervous speaker or a complete beginner. Is that a problem?
Not at all, it's the most common reason people come to me. I learned Dutch and German as an adult, so I know the nerves first-hand, and my psychology background means I pay attention to keeping you comfortable, not just correcting you.
Can you help with English for work?
Yes. I spent five years in professional consulting, so I can help with meetings, emails, presentations and interviews, the real situations where you want to sound confident.
Online or in person?
Both. In person, I meet students at cafés around central Graz, near the main university campus. Online works anywhere by video call and is easy to fit around work or school.
